DESI PAK - BAG MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS
Tyvek is made from a spunbonded olefin. Tyvek bags are made from high density polyethylene fibers, making them extremely tear-resistant. In addition, Tyvek is lightweight, flexible, smooth, low-linting, and is resistant to water, chemical abrasion, and aging.
Desi Pak in Tyvek bags will not promote corrosion and does not contain sulfur. Tyvek bags containing Desi Pak meet the requirements of the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for direct contact with food and pharmaceuticals. Desi Pak in Tyvek bags are also Class 100 Clean Room compatible.
Desi Pak in Tyvek bags also meet Type I & II of MIL-D-3464E (except 16 unit size, which can only be certified to MIL-D-3464E in the string sewn bag). This means the bags can be used for general purpose or non-dusting applications. MIL-D-3464E dust testing has yielded a result of less than 0.5 mg of dust when Desi Pak is packaged in Tyvek, which truly makes it a dust-free desiccant.
Desi Pak in Kraft bags is the most economical way to purchase Desi Pak. Please note, however, that Kraft bags contain sulfur which may cause corrosion when placed in contact with metal products. Desi Pak in Kraft bags meet Type I & II of MIL-D-3464E. This means the bags can be used for general purpose or non-dusting applications.
String Sewn Bags (Heavy, Non-Woven)
Desi Pak clay in string sewn bags meets Type I & II of MIL-D-3464E in the 8 unit and 16 unit sizes. Each bag has two tie-strings, enabling the bag to be hung.
DESI PAK - PACKET MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS
This packet material is the best value for most small packaging applications. GDTII is tear-resistant, flexible, low-linting, allows a high adsorption rate, and features good seal strength. Desi Pak in GDTII packets is also approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for direct contact with food and pharmaceuticals.
DESI PAK CLAY DESICCANT METHOD II PACKAGING
Desi Pak meets Method II Packaging standards described in MIL-P-116-E, which covers the basic requirement of military packaging methods of preservation. This involves packaging an item inside a sealed water-proof and moisture/vapor-proof container with the inclusion of a desiccant to prevent rust, mildew, or corrosion damage. In Method II Packaging, the package is maintained at a safe humidity at 40% RH during the normal storage period of 18 months to two years.
DESI PAK - PERFORMANCE DATA
Desi Pak clay desiccant is a chemically inert, non-corrosive, calcium aluminosilicate clay. The internal structure of this calcium-rich montmorillonite is a layer structure which attracts and adsorbs moisture onto its surface and between its layers.
Clay is the least expensive of all desiccants and highly effective within normal temperature and relative humidity ranges. It is used in most industrial applications requiring humidity control. Clay can adsorb up to 28% of its weight in water vapor at 77°F and 80% relative humidity. At full moisture vapor capacity, Desi Pak remains dry and free-flowing. There is no apparent change in size, shape, or texture of the desiccant.
Desi Pak unit bags exceed the requirements of MIL-D-3464E in actual performance and will exceed the moisture vapor adsorption of silica gel at government specification levels. Desi Pak montmorillonite clay is a naturally occurring mineral as opposed to a chemically synthesized adsorbent. Therefore, it is more economical than silica gel desiccant or molecular sieve desiccant.
The Desi Pak performance curve exceeds both the military specification, which is the industry standard, and the silica gel performance curve for these same specifications.
