Filtered Storage Bag Vents Frequently Asked Questions

    • Where can I use filtered storage bag vents?
The filtered storage bag vent was specifically designed to be incorporated into bulk storage food bags to allow for out gassing and prevent overpressure, but it can be used for foil, polythene, etc. Essentially, any bag or flexible barrier is a good application for this item.

    • Why use a filtered storage bag vent instead of some other filter?
Most large bag applications use a tap and filter mechanism that requires someone to periodically open the tap to exhaust gas from the bag to stop over pressurization. The filtered storage bag vent eliminates this maintenance requirement as by being fully automatic, thus reducing the risk of the bag exploding due to human error.

    • What prevents moisture ingress in to my container through the filtered storage bag vent?
The filtered storage bag vent has a one way valve which will only allow air movement out and not in, thus preventing moisture ingress.

    • Is their a possibility of the valve breaking off into my container?
No. The filtered storage bag vent has additional mechanical locking to withstand in excess of 20 kg of loading.

    • Can the filtered storage bag vent be used in conjunction with food meant for human consumption?
Yes. All the components used in the construction of the filtered storage bag vent are FDA approved.

    • What is the typical flowrate through the unit?
The typical flowrate through the filtered storage bag vent is 0.35 cubic feet per minute at 1 psig (10 liters a minute at 70 millibars).

    • What is the filtration level of the unit?
The filtered storage bag vent has a nominal 0.5 micron filtration.
