Tri-Sorb® packaged
molecular sieve is the desiccant of choice for the most unique
and demanding applications. Molecular
sieve desiccant is a synthetically produced crystalline metal aluminosilicate
zeolite. Molecular sieve particles
have a uniform pore structure (created during the manufacturing
process). This
enables molecular sieve to separate molecules by size.
Molecular
sieve desiccant also adsorbs molecules on the basis of polarity differences
due to electrostatic attraction. Water molecules, for example, are adsorbed strongly by Tri-Sorb
because they possess a high degree of polarity and have the proper
molecular size for entrance into the sieves' pores.
However, Tri-Sorb molecular sieve desiccant is much more expensive than Desi Pak clay desiccant or Sorb-It silica gel desiccant,
and is typically only used in high temperature (>200°F) and
low relative humidity packaging applications. Tri-Sorb products
also cannot be reactivated for multiple uses.

Tri-Sorb Molecular Sieve Desiccant Performance Data
|
The structure of Tri-Sorb provides a higher capacity for water adsorption than either silica gel desiccant or clay desiccant at low humidity levels. Tri-Sorb also retains a higher percentage of moisture capacity than either silica gel desiccant or clay desiccant as temperature levels increase. Furthermore, Tri-Sorb remains dry and free-flowing, even at maximum adsorption capacity.

Tri-Sorb Molecular Sieve Desiccant Bag Material Specifications
|
 |
Tyvek® Bags
Tyvek is a spunbonded olefin. Tyvek bags are made from high density polyethylene fibers, making them extremely tear resistant. In addition, Tyvek is lightweight, flexible, smooth, low-linting, and is resistant to water, chemical abrasion, and aging.
Tri-Sorb molecular sieve in Tyvek bags will not promote corrosion and does not contain sulpher. Sulpher, when placed in contact with a product may cause corrosion in many applications, such as those used by the electronics industry.

GDTII Packets
This packet material is the best value for most small packaging applications. GDTII is tear-resistant, flexible, low-linting, allows a high adsorption rate, and features good seal strength. Tri-Sorb in GDTII packets is also approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for direct contact with food and pharmaceuticals.
Tri-Sorb in Tyvek packet material is also available (a minimum order quantity may apply). Please call us at 1-800-995-5590 for more information. |
Tri-Sorb Molecular Sieve Desiccant Bag & Packet Sizes |
Tri-Sorb is available in either unit or gram sizes.
Tri-Sorb in unit sizes: 1/3, 1, 2, 4, and 8 units. Tri-Sorb in gram size packets are typically used to protect small enclosures; they range in size from 1/2 gram to 5 grams. For more information about Tri-Sorb in packets, please refer to the Desiccant Requirements Chart: Gram Sizes or call us at 1-800-995-5590. |
