Cargo
damage caused by the harmful effects of condensation during transport
can often translate into lost revenue and jeopardize credibility
for manufacturers, distributors, and retailers of almost any
product. In
growing numbers, however, transporters are learning that one
of the most effective weapons to protect shipments is Container
Dri® II.
Container Dri II is a new generation of packaging
protection for the reduction of dew point and the control of
condensation. Its design allows water vapor to easily enter
through the flexible packaging film and into the interior or
the bag where it is concentrated into a thick gel. Water
vapor can pass into the bag, but the gel cannot leak or escape.
Container Dri II has the ability to protect
shipments from start to finish, through all temperature ranges
and relative humidity variances. Container Dri II is
completely safe, non-toxic, and may be disposed of with regular
waste.
All bags are 125 grams; recommended usage is 32 bags for a standard 20 foot shipping container and 64 bags for a
standard 40 foot container.
Container Dri II Performance Data
Container Dri II should be used if:
A huge amount of air has to be dehumidified
Air with high humidity near dew point conditions has to be dehumidified
The packaging system is only semi-closed and the packaging experiences high levels of diffusion (e.g., a seagoing container, cardboard box)
Primary goal of the application of a desiccant is to avoid dew point conditions and the formation of liquid water (container rain)
The packaged good does not show deterioration at moderate to high humidity levels
Container Dri II Applications
Typical applications include:
Automotive parts
Food
Powders
Glass
Wood
Pet foods
Paints & varnishes
Coffee beans, bulk packaged grains, and milled products
Canned goods
Industrial machinery
Container Dri II Usage Requirements
The recommended usage for Container DriII is 32 bags of 125 grams each for a normal 20 ft. shipping container and 64 bags for a 40 ft. shipping container. The number may vary depending on shipping conditions and the nature of the products being protected. We suggest that you consult a Desiccant City sales representative (1-800-995-5590) for additional information and assistance. Travel time, weather conditions, temperature variations, and final destination may significantly affect the levels of relative humidity encountered during the voyage.
When the shipment reaches its final destination, the Container Dri II bags may be removed during the unloading process, and treated as normal dunnage. Since the product is non-hazardous and is non-toxic, the bags may be thrown into a normal waste container or into an ordinary landfill.
