Protect Truck Cargo
Protect Ship Cargo

Cargo damage caused by the harmful effects of condensation during transport can often translate into lost revenue and jeopardize credibility for manufacturers, distributors, and retailers of almost any product.  In growing numbers, however, transporters are learning that one of the most effective weapons to protect shipments is Container Dri® II. Container Dri II Product Presentation (PowerPoint)

Container Dri II is a new generation of packaging protection for the reduction of dew point and the control of condensation.  Its design allows water vapor to easily enter through the flexible packaging film and into the interior or the bag where it is concentrated into a thick gel.  Water vapor can pass into the bag, but the gel cannot leak or escape. Container Dri II has the ability to protect shipments from start to finish, through all temperature ranges and relative humidity variances.  Container Dri II is completely safe, non-toxic, and may be disposed of with regular waste when the shipment reaches its final destination.

The recommended usage for each Container Dri II configuration can be found in the tables below. The number may vary depending on shipping conditions and the nature of the products being protected. Travel time, weather conditions, temperature variations, and final destination may significantly affect the levels of relative humidity encountered during the voyage. We suggest that you consult a Desiccant City sales representative (1-800-995-5590) for additional information.

The FDA has determined that the films used to package Container Dri II desiccant meet the requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for contact with food and drugs.

Container Dri II Plus

Container Dri II Plus (CDII+) is a versatile configuration using a blanket of twelve 125-gram compartments of Container Dri II. CDII+ is made with an outer protective envelope, powerful strapping system, and locking hook for hanging, allowing it to be quickly and securely hung and suspended in sea containers, rail cars or river barges. This provides a dramatic decrease in labor to install the Container Dri II product in containers.

Container Dri II Pole

Container Dri II Pole is another new configuration, designed for easy hanging inside shipping containers.

Container Dri II Performance Data

Container Dri II should be used if:

  • A huge amount of air has to be dehumidified
  • Air with high humidity near dew point conditions has to be dehumidified
  • The packaging system is only semi-closed and the packaging experiences high levels of diffusion (e.g., a seagoing container, cardboard box)
  • Primary goal of the application of a desiccant is to avoid dew point conditions and the formation of liquid water (container rain)
  • The packaged good does not show deterioration at moderate to high humidity levels
