- How do I mount your port on my container?
AGM access ports are designed with ease of installation in mind. Simply cut an appropriate sized hole in your container wall, insert the port, and secure it with the provided nut and washer.
- Does the access port provide a watertight seal?
Yes. All AGM access ports provide a removable cover that seals, as well as gasketing to seal the port housing to the exterior surface of the container it is installed on.
- Can I place a security seal on the cover to make sure no one has opened it?
Yes. All AGM access ports have provisions for safety wiring.
- Are any other size ports available?
AGM currently offers three standard sizes of access ports with nominal diameters of 2” (TA475-1986), 4” (TA495) and 5” (TA595). While it is possible to make ports of other diameters, it is usually cost prohibitive unless production volumes are significant. Please contact our Engineering Department with any special requests you might have.
- Are other finishes available?
Yes. The standard cover is made from stainless steel and passivated. The housings on the TA475-1986 and TA495 are conversion coated while the housing on the TA595 is hard, black anodize. However, virtually any other finish, including paint, is available upon request.
- Will the access ports hold pressure?
Yes. The TA475-1986 and TA495 are rated to 5 psid while the TA595 is rated to 2.5 psid.
- What do I do with the cover while I am accessing my container via the access port?
The covers of all three size access ports are provided with lanyards so they can hang free while the port is in use without the fear of misplacing, dropping, or otherwise losing the cover.
- If my cover gets damaged, can I replace it easily?
Yes. Replacement covers are for sale for all of our access ports, desiccant baskets, and records holders. The replacement is easily accomplished in minutes using common hand tools. Please specify the part number of the item you are requesting a replacement cover for as we make many custom items with unique part numbers.
- Do you make custom ports for special applications?
Yes, we do! Many of our customers work with us to develop custom applications using our access ports.
- Can I mount a breather valve or humidity indicator in the cover of my access port?
Yes. You can do this yourself on the TA495 and TA595 ports if you have machining capability simply by cutting the appropriate sized hole in the cover. The TA475-1986 port cover utilizes a completely different design than the TA495 or TA595 and it is actually a different cover assembly that allows mounting a breather valve or humidity indicator. However, you can simply replace the existing cover with a replacement cover with the required item.
